The New York Times, Digest, as “…a star whose light transcends the stage…” Spanish violist Jesus Rodolfo Rodriguez is recognized for his performances of spontaneity and imagination of youth with the discipline and precision of a mature artist.  As Principal Violist and Soloist of the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester he has performed throughout Europe in prestigious halls including Musikverein of Vienna, AlteOper of Frankfurt, Alte Oper of Luxemburg, Teatro Verdi of Pisa, Auditorio Nacional of Madrid, and Megaron of Athens under notable conductors such as Claudio Abbado, Antonio Pappano, and Herbert Blomstedt.  Prizewinner of numerous national competitions and awards in the USA, he was the winner of the “Young Soloist Competition” in León (2007) and received a special prize at 2009 International Lionel Tertis Competition.  In his native Spain he received the “Cajastur Young Artist” Scholarship, won the “CajaMadrid Chamber Music” and “Young Artist Intercentros” National competitions.  After his debut as a Solo Violist at the age of thirteen in the Auditorio Principe Felipe of Oviedo, Spain, he has since soloed with Mannes Orchestra, Bratislawa Chamber Orchestra, León Symphony Orchestra “Odón Alonso,” Youth Asturias Symphony Orchestra, Gijón Simphony Orchestra, Yale Philharmonia and has also appeared in major concert halls throughout Europe, China and the US.  Jesús graduated with an Honorary Diploma from Conservatorio Superior de Musica in Oviedo in 2007, followed by a Certificate in Performance, Master of Music, Artist Diploma and Professional Studies Certificate at Yale University, Juilliard, Mannes College of Music, and Manhattan School of Music.  Currently he pursues his Doctoral Music Arts Degree at Stony Brook University.  His main mentors are Jesse Levine, Paul Neubauer, and Lawrence Dutton.  As a chamber musician, he participated and performed at the Mozart Festival in A Coruña, Music Festival of Cádiz, Spanish Viola Congress, Bowdoin International Music Festival (as Bowdoin Virtuosi 2011/12, becoming Artist/Faculty in 2013/14), Music@Menlo Festival in San Francisco 2011-International Program, 2013 Castleton Music Festival, Malaga#Clasica in 2013/14 and Chelsea Music Festival 2016.  Most recently, he created Jesus Rodolfo “Thoughts on Viola Playing” YouTube Channel.  Jesus Rodolfo Rodriguez is fluent in English, Spanish, Italian and French, and holds a Degree in Piano and Architecture.
