Dušan Kostić

Dušan started piano lessons when he was seven. At twelve, he began to study double bass in Ćuprija with Prof. Aleksandar Blagojevic at the Special School for Musically Gifted Children, continuing at the Belgrade Music Academy in 2015 and the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad from 2016. He has also worked with iPalpiti alumni Roman Patkolo (soloist, Prof. at Basel Musik Akademie and principal of the Zurich National Opera) and Artem Chirkov (soloist and principal at the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic), and other leading principal bassists.
Winner of numerous international competitions, including 2nd prize at the Dittersdorf International Competition, Slovakia (2014) and 1st prize in the Competition for Soloists with Belgrade Radio Symphony Orchestra (2018), Dušan has performed with many orchestras as a soloist with virtuoso repertoire such as Bottessini Grand Duo Concertante and Paganini’s Moses Variations. Dušan was a member and the soloist of the prestigious youth string ensemble LGT Young Soloists in Lichtenstein, and as principal with Ljubljana International Orchestra, Sistema Europe Youth Orchestra, Belgrade Symphony Orchestra, CEI European Youth Orchestra, Ćuprija Chamber Orchestra, Bolshoi Festival Orchestra, and Rome Chamber Orchestra, under eminent conductors such as Gustavo Dudamel and others. Dušan has performed in orchestras and as chamber musician in the top concert halls in Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Austria, United States of America, Switzerland, Slovenia, Lichtenstein, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Greece, Egypt, Singapore, Israel, Oman, Hong Kong, Jordan, Slovakia, United Arab Emirates, Czech Republic and Serbia. Currently, he is double bassist of the Gstaad Menuhin Festival Orchestra and Baltic Sea Philharmonic. 2019 marks Dušan’s first season with iPalpiti.
