Christopher Garcia’s website

Christopher Garcia is a critically acclaimed performing, improvising composer who has made a career in some of the most musically creative situations possible with over 1200 performances in 28 countries on 5 continents, either on Western drumset, percussion of North and South India, percussion of indigenous Mexico, Meso America or his own unique percussion configuration called EL MONSTRO which contains instruments from all of the above all within arms reach.

“Christopher Garcia is one of those musicians who always seems to be on stage when amazing things are happening.”

—Long Beach Post

“a most uncommon percussionist…Christopher is an ace trap drum player and is known for precise execution of difficult time signatures at blazing tempos; and a hand percussionist with a deep background in Indian and Latin American music. No mere timekeeper, he always seems to elevate whatever musical situation he finds himself in.”

He composes, records, and tours with several of his own imaginative groups – ANADIS MUSIC, CONTINUUM, IN FLUX ENSEMBLE, MA/GARCIA/MANRING, MEZCLA MUZIC, QUARTETO NUEVO, and TADIC/MANRING/GARCIA, and has received commissions from several different artists – woodwind quintet QUINTETO LATINO, harpist Tasha Smith Godinez, as well as collaborations with Jxel Rajchenberg, Jie Ma, Michael Manring and many more.

Christopher humbly and gratefully acknowledges his mentor John Bergamo from California Institute of the Arts, and his tabla teachers Pandit Taranath Rao, Leonice Shinemann, and Swapan Chaudhuri for teaching him the skills and tools needed to transcend his limitations……………
