ANNA AGAFIA, 19, was born and raised in Copenhagen, Denmark and speaks four languages fluently: Danish, Russian, French and English. She began to play the violin at the age of five. The winner of two American Protégé international competitions, she made her debut at Carnegie Hall, New York in 2014. Anna has won numerous Danish and Nordic awards such as Jacob Gades Violinkonkurrence, Nordisk Solistkonkurrence, Øresunds Solist, Berlingske Tidendes Musikkonkurrence and Danish Televisions “Spil for Livet” competition. Currently studying with Alexandre Zapolski at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, she has participated in masterclasses with violinists and pedagogues such as Alexander Sitkovetsky, Natalia Boyarsky and Levon Ambartsumian. Anna frequently performs in Denmark and abroad both in recitals and as a concerto soloist, appearing recently with the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Bergen Philharmonic and Malmö Symphony Orchestra. Most recent festival performances included Sweden’s Båstad kammermusikfestival, and Røros Festival as a soloist with musicians from Berlin Philharmonic. Anna plays on a Gagliano from 1763, which is on loan to her from the Augustinus Foundation.
