Alexandra Tirsu
Violinist/Moldova – Romania
Born in 1992 into a family of musicians in Chisinau, Moldova, Alexandra started playing at the age of 7 at the Rachmaninov’s Musical Lyceum. Her first teacher was Lidia Dolinscaia, she continued with Daniel Fedorean and with Ecaterina Tirsu. In 2011, she continued her studies in Austria at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna with Professor Pavel Vernikov.
Alexandra has garnered top prizes in many international competitions, starting with First Prize at the Cornelia Bronzetti Competition at age 11, the Gold Medal at The Muse in Greece, the Grand Prix at the Gianluca Campochiaro competition in Italy, and first prizes at “The Virtuous of Russian Music” in Moldova, and OSAKA Music Competition 2014. In 2018, Alexandra became a laureate at the Seoul International Music Competition, earned a Special Prize at the Eugene Ysaye Competition in Belgium, and a second prize at the CIMA International Competition in Austria.
Alexandra enjoys playing chamber music; she performs in various chamber music festivals and often leads as concertmaster under great musicians including Semyon Bychkov, Lars Anders Tomter, Joo and Igudesmann Duo, Christoph Ehrenfellner, Igor Kuschnir, and many others. As a soloist, she performs all around the world, especially in Europe, Asia and South America. Alexandra was selected to the iPalpiti by Maestro Schmieder at the Georges Enescu International Violin Competition in September 2018 where he was member of the jury. This is her first season with iPalpiti.
