Aaron T. Smith

AARON T. SMITH is a freelance percussionist in Southern California, where he has performed with such groups as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, the L.A. Chamber Orchestra, and the Pacific Symphony. He has performed as a soloist in Los Angeles and New York City, and has given solo recitals throughout Southern California. Mr. Smith has recorded with the Los Angeles Master Chorale on the Decca label.
Aaron performs in a variety of contemporary music ensembles and enjoys working with composers during the creation of new works. In 2007 he gave the world premiere of RIDE by Ryan Dorin at the Look & Listen Festival in New York City. In 2010 he participated in the world premiere of Daniel Catán’s Il Postino with the Los Angeles Opera in an on-stage role conceived with him in mind.
Mr. Smith is on the faculty of California State University, Northridge (CSUN) and Loyola Marymount University; he maintains a private teaching studio in West LA, and serves as a clinician and adjudicator. Mr. Smith attended the University of California at Los Angeles (BA, MFA).
